First I sketch the vessel as I would like to see it.  I sketch the basic shape as I would like to see it.  I throw the piece on the wheel.  Then I make a mold of the perfect object. I explore how the mold could be cut to in order to redefine the object without loosing the flow of the original form. Some molds have over forty parts and cuts.  I explore the path less traveled, I cast and recast, changing ever so slightly the movement of the form.  Movement is an integral part of the process from the throwing on the wheel to the evolution of the cuts.  Each mold has thousand of possibility like clay itself. I think of my work as a celebration of the possible. I am quite interested in the subtle figurative references and tensions that can be created by altering a thrown form.
